Thomas Klein, Fairmont San Francisco

Thomas Klein brings three decades of hospitality leadership to his position as Regional Vice President and General Manager of the Fairmont San Francisco.  He exemplifies all the attributes that add up to the consummate hotelier… sharp business savvy conditioned by strong values; a passion for perfection tempered by compassion; ambassador and bon vivant, and a model corporate citizen who leads and improves the communities in which Fairmont does business.  Tom believes that it is the everyday courtesies that create a culture in which colleagues feel proud of their job, their team and their hotel.  Despite his hectic travel schedule, he always makes himself available to the staff.  Recently, the Fairmont lost an employee in an automobile accident, and Tom personally handled all the arrangements of the memorial service.

Tom ran a successful state-wide initiative supporting the Fairmont Brand’s commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship, raising more than $17,000 in guest donations for the California Save our Parks Campaign.  He leads the hotel’s volunteer participation with the California Coastal Clean-up, the AIDS Walk, the Breast Cancer Walk and the San Francisco Food Bank.  He devotes countless hours of service to community based organizations and boards such as the San Francisco Convention and Visitors’ Bureau, University of San Francisco and the Australian-American Chamber of commerce.  He has also been instrumental in the development of his teenage son’s charity, Kids Helping Kids, Inc.   I’m very proud to represent the Fairmont’s team’s nomination of Thomas Klein...hotelier…community leader…and father.
