Robert Finney, Kensington Park Hotel

In 1982, when San Francisco’s first boutique hotel, Personality Hotels’ Hotel Union Square, opened,  Bob Finney embarked on his life’s passion as a Concierge.  In 1984, he moved to the Kensington Park for the opening of the San Francisco Democratic Convention.  There was no marble flooring in the lobby; the hallway carpet had not been installed, but Bob made each and every guest feel so special, no one seemed to notice the hotel was still under construction.  Bob has been called, “Ambassador to the Stars,” as his client list includes celebrities from television, stage and screen, the worlds of politics and business.  However, each and every guest gets “VIP” treatment from Bob.

His exploits in the realm of “above and beyond” include aiding a pedestrian who had collapsed on the sidewalk.  Bob scooped him up, placed him gingerly on a bellman cart and transported him to the 490 Post Street Medical Building for emergency care.  In 1989, when San Francisco was hit by the Loma Prieta Earthquake, Bob climbed over 20 flights of stairs in the dark to escort all guests and their luggage to the lobby safely.

Bob received his 25 year recognition from Personality Hotels in 2007, and his passion for providing the ultimate in customer service is still as strong as the day he walked into the Hotel Union Square in 1982.  Bob simply states his philosophy of service:  “I like to help people have a good time and see that they enjoy themselves.”
