Gary Siu, Hotel Tomo

As a Front Desk Host, Gary Siu carries out his mission of exemplary service to the Hotel Tomo’s guests, not for the recognition, but because it is the right thing to do.  “Absolutely,” is Gary’s usual response to any request, even if it means going to extraordinary measures and means.  Among his recent exploits, he personally tackled the U.S. Post Office and actually succeeding in having them re-send a large package to a former guest in China!  The guest had long since checked out and had mailed a package home using the Hotel Tomo as a return address.  He must have worked some special magic to overcome the nightmare scenario of customs forms and bureaucracy and postage due, as it was sent on its way with no extra charges.  This guest will never know who her hero was, but we do.  Gary also went out of his way to arrange for a DVD player for a family for an evening’s entertainment by purchasing some needed hardware for the player on his lunch break and setting everything up for the guests in their room.  Gary is the first to let another colleague take a break or skip his lunch to assist a guest or another co-working.  Gary is humble and doesn’t like to take credit for his wonderful service skills and genuine regard and respect for his guests and co-workers.  He does it right, and with a smile, and without wanting to take the bow he so richly deserves.
